Aloe is known to be a fast-healing friend to our skin, my Aloe has saved many a burn in my home. It has also become a bit of a superstar in pharmacies where you can buy Aloe juice to drink, helping tummy issues. Let’s dig a little deeper to see what makes this plant a “must have” in the garden –
Aloe, also known as Bitter Aloe or Cape Aloe, its Botanical name being Aloe Barbadensis has astringent, emollient, antibacterial, antiviral and laxative qualities.
Applied topically it does well to heal mouth sores and stimulates cell regeneration.
Drinking Aloe juice helps to lower cholesterol, reduces inflammation resulting from radiation therapy, increases blood vessel generation in the hands and feet of people with poor circulation. It may soothe stomach irritation and aids healing.
It does act as a laxative so start slowly with a matchstick head size of the crystal or powder and increase until you reach the desired effect. Swallow with a glass of water as it is extremely bitter to the taste.
Do not use Aloe is pregnant or breastfeeding and do not use for long periods of time.
