The bold flower of Calendula is one of the best skin healing herbs and is a wonderful addition to aging skincare and wound healing.  While it is soothing and antioxidant, Calendula encourages new tissue growth and repair, also having antiseptic, astringent and anti-inflammatory qualities.  Calendula can be used for bruises, sores, skin ulcers, skin infections and rashes, including nappy rash.  It can also be helpful for skin damage due to the side effects of radiation therapy.  It is an effective antifungal and can be used for athlete’s foot.

Where lymph glands are swollen and congested, massaging the area with Calendula ointment will help drain and cleanse the lymphatic tissue and glands.

Internally, Calendula can be taken as a tea or tincture for lymph congestion, gastrointestinal issues such as ulcers, cramps and diarrhea.

Calendula is very safe with no known contraindications or side effects.  A few people have been known to have an allergic reaction to the plant since it is in the Aster Family of plants.

You will find Calendula in our Baby Bum Balm, Drawing Balm and our Eczema Soothe Balm.
