Imagine a lemony tea with just a hint of mint, I think it is just delightful!!  What makes this aromatic tea even better is the benefits it has for our health.  This is medicine that is not only good for you but tastes great too.

Lemon Verbena is often used as a culinary herb and made into sweet treats.  Making a syrup out of this herb is a great way to take it as medicine.

Originally it was found in Peru, Argentina and Chile and now is grown in warmer climates.  As medicine, it is the leaves and flowering tops that are most commonly used, these hold a wonderful flavour and aroma, even when dried.

Medicinally, Lemon Verbena is used to soothe the digestive tract and it is an antispasmodic.  Particularly helpful for colic, indigestion, gas and bloating.  Some even use it for joint pain.

Lemon Verbena is good to have on hand for cold and flu to help with sinus congestion and sore throats.  It also help to sweat out a fever.

The only caution with Lemon Verbena is to not use it long term as this may actually cause irritation to the gastrointestinal tract.
