Children under the age of 4 should always see a health care provider for an ear infection.
- For adults and older children, make up a batch of garlic oil, apply 3-4 drops to both ears (as they are connected and infection can easily spread from one side to the other) and gently massage the outer ear, every 30 minutes for the first few day and up to a week after all symptoms subside.
- Drink warming and decongesting Ginger tea.
- To relieve pain and congestion, pour ¼ of a cup of boiling water over a tablespoon of sea salt. Wait until warm to the touch, fill the ear canal (you will need someone to help you with this) allow it to sit for a minute or so. Have a tissue on hand and tip ear into the tissue. Do this 2-3 times (do not use if the solution has got cold) it will remove any gunk sitting in the ear canal while killing any infection that is trying to set in.
- Do not go into cold wind or have any drafts on the ears when infected.
